13 gigapixel VR Drive panorama
With his Roundshot VR Drive, German photographer Helmuth Günther created an extraordinary gigapixel panorama, this time on the Reiteralm in Styria / Austria!

About the creation process:
- Equipment used: Roundshot VR Drive in quality mode with Canon EOS 5D mk iii camera, Canon EF 100-400mm L IS II USM zoom lens with 1.4 converter (=560mm focal length) and SanDisk Extreme CompactFlash UDMA7 128GB
- Start / end of the recording process: 9 a.m. / 4:40 p.m. (=7 hours 40 minutes)
- Over 10,000 individual images, 1 image every 2.6 seconds.
- The panorama was recorded 3-4 times by repeating certain parts of the image using the VR Drive function "repeat x/y" and "restart x/y" - in order to eliminate ghost images, duplicates and shadows caused by clouds
- Temperature around 32° C
- Resulting image dimensions: 342,876 x 37,980 pixels = 13,022 gigapixels
Helmuth reports the following:
"The Roundshot VR Drive once again worked like a Swiss clock. It positions the camera reliably and extremely precisely - even when repeating images or a program, the positioning is extremely accurate. The device handles camera-internal communication errors thanks to the "repeat x/y" function. and "start x/y" function in a very flexible way."
Thank you Helmuth for your insights from this interesting project!
