First VR Drive Metric delivered!
Last week, the Roundshot team delivered the first VR Drive Metric to customers around the world. Since the first product presentation at photokina in September 2014, the Metric hardware and the FOVEX PanoMaker software have undergone various improvements.
Last week, the Roundshot team delivered the first VR Drive Metric to customers around the world. Since the first product presentation at photokina in September 2014, the Metric hardware and the FOVEX PanoMaker software have undergone various improvements.
Roundshot VR Drive Metric hardware upgrades
- Integration of the WiFi router in the Metric housing (with the possibility of connecting to smartphones or computers via WiFi)
- Stabilization of the camera housing with lens
- New touchscreen for VR Drive Metric
- Complete sealing of the adjustment screws (for calibration)
FOVEX PanoMaker Software upgrades
- Improved calibration
- Reduced number of images (less overlap), allowing for a much faster capture process and image processing
- Server solution for online registration of customers and their products
- Improved anti-ghosting algorithm for using PanoMakers on less powerful computers
- Improvements in the user interface with the option to reprocess images

The FOVEX Measure 3D photogrammetry software is currently being expanded so that it can process the spherical panoramas of the VR Drive Metric for 3D measurements, CAD and other modules. The Seitz and PhotoCore team look forward to providing an update on the complete 3D measurement workflow once the software is ready.
